Bitrate vs Resolution Explained

Understand how resolution, frame rate, and bitrate interact.

Resolution is canvas; Bitrate is bandwidth

Resolution (e.g. 1080p, 4K) sets pixel dimensions. Bitrate sets the budget of data allocated to describe those pixels each second.

A high-resolution video encoded with too low a bitrate will look blurry and full of compression artifacts.

Frame rate matters

A 60 fps video requires more bitrate than a 24 fps or 30 fps video to maintain the same visual clarity per frame.
